I’ve been drawn to photography for as long as I can remember. As a little girl, I was rarely without a camera, or a magazine in my hands, fascinated by the people, faces, families and visual stories within the pages. Over the years, life has only deepened that connection. I’m naturally very attuned to people and emotion, and I love capturing the moments that make us feel something — the joy, excitement, love, passion, nostalgia and everything in between. Moving to London in 2005 and experiencing the bombings not long after arriving was a moment that stayed with me; if anything, it made me realise how powerful photographs can be in preserving not just what happened, but how people felt. I remember the overwhelming relief of seeing people reunited with their loved ones, and I often think about how meaningful it would have been to capture those moments of humanity amongst the chaos. For me, photography is about more than a good image; it’s about creating something that brings you right back to how that moment felt.
